Interested in volunteering to edit the Heron Academy Wiki? We are always looking for enthusiastic, bright new editors to help expand our Wiki to make it the number one free business and marketing information resource on the Internet. If you have expertise within an any business or marketing related field and believe you could bring your skills and knowledge to help expand our project, then we'd love to hear from you.
The job of a Wiki volunteer consists of creating and editing articles to ensure they meet our Editorial Guidelines. The types of editors we're looking for will typically have some academic background in a business or marketing related field, and will be able to write clear, concise and well referenced articles suitable for publishing on our Wiki. If you think this is you, then take a look at our application requirements below. If you meet them, have a read over our application process, and finally, make sure you agree to our Terms of Service. As a volunteer, any works you submit to us will become published under the Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Unported license. This means that you won't own any rights to your work. We will instead own the work, and it will be submitted through our website for the rest of the general public to freely access. You won't have any republishing writes to your work either. If that is a problem for you, then think over it first before deciding to apply.
Becoming A Volunteer Editor
Requirements
English Fluency
The most basic requirement we have is that all editors are completely fluent in the English language. Our Wiki sets a high standard for its articles, and therefore we want only the most professional English writers on our team. You must be able to command respect over all aspects of the English language, including grammar, spelling and punctuation.
Graduate Of A Tertiary Related Business Or Marketing Course, Or Experienced Entrepreneur With Academic Awareness
We're looking for volunteers who not only know about marketing, but who have studied it at a high enough level that they're able to write confidently about various subjects within the field. If you're not a business or marketing graduate, but have successfully run your own business, or have a lot of experience marketing other businesses, we'd still love to have you on board as a volunteer, provided you know how to write in an academic tone. This includes full knowledge of how to correctly reference and present information an in encyclopedic manner. Whilst we're not an encyclopedia and don't want to be, your writing style should reflect the tone of an encyclopedia moreso than a training course.
No Expectation Of Recognition, Payment Or Gratitude For Services
Whilst we may publicly list that you're a a volunteer editor of our Wiki, you will not in any way be receiving compensation or public recognition for your contributions. This is a volunteer, community based project, and all information you publish will be made available freely through our Wiki to the general public. Your drive to be a volunteer editor should come from wanting to donate your business and marketing knowledge freely to the world.
A Desire To Create The Best Free Business & Marketing Resource On The Internet
Our goal is to create the most comprehensive business & marketing Wiki on the Internet. As a volunteer editor, you should be prepared to devote a reasonable amount of time each month to creating and editing articles. Whilst there's no minimum hours of work necessary, and we'd greatly appreciate any amount of your time, the more you can contribute to the Wiki the better. You should be prepared to write a new business or marketing related entry at least twice a year in order to be considered an active volunteer. You will be expected to perform a number of other duties as well, including reviewing other editors contributions to ensure they remain in compliance with our editorial guidelines.

We do have a two stage application process, which is as follows -
Stage 1: General Application
This is your general application which you will be submitting through the Internet. Make sure to follow all of the instructions on this application carefully so that we're better able to select the most suitable editors. If your application is accepted, you will proceed on to Stage 2.
Stage 2: Editorial Submission
We will be in contact with you if you've passed Stage 1 of our application process. For the next stage, we will submit to you a business or marketing related topic for you to write about (most likely one based in a field in which you have expertise). You will then be required to write the topic, making proper use of citations and formatting. The topic will need to be fairly comprehensive, giving a rigorous introduction to the subject matter so that anyone reading the topic will be able to gain a good understanding of what it's about.
If your editorial submission is accepted, you will become a volunteer editor and can start making contributions to the Wiki immediately.
